Professional  Summary: Mr. Maimone entered the practice of law in 1978 in a medium-size Manhattan litigation firm.  He was named a partner in 1982.  He founded a private practice in 1987.  In 35 years of practice, Mr. Maimone has taken numerous trials to verdict in the State and Federal Courts of the New York. He has also pursued and defended appeals in the Appellate Divisions, the New York State Court of Appeals and United States Courts of Appeals in the Second and Third Circuits. He has successfully resolved high-value cases in alternative forums such as JAMS and NAM.

Mr. Maimone has been engaged by a wide range of clients from individuals to small companies to large multi-national institutions.  He has effectively represented and counseled clients in commercial litigation through trial and appeal.  Mr. Maimone has extensive experience defending product liability and complex litigation cases for such diverse products as trucks, industrial machines, toys, construction equipment, asbestos-containing products, drugs and medical devices.  He has represented individuals, physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases.  He has prosecuted personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits.

Mr. Maimone is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He has lectured on topics including trial practice, solo practice and medical records confidentiality.  Mr. Maimone has served the community as a director and officer of community and charitable organizations.

Legal Practice: Maimone & Associates PLLC: Port Washington, NY – January 2000 to the present.  Mr. Maimone is the founding member and leader of the firm, with personal responsibility for the pursuit of zealous advocacy benefitting all clients of the firm.

Maimone &Angel:  Mineola, New York – March, 1987 to January, 2000.  Mr. Maimone was a founding partner and senior trial and appellate counsel, and the responsible partner for most of the firm’s clients.  Under his leadership, the firm grew from two to seven attorneys, and forged strong relationships with insurance companies and self-insured clients.

Costello & Shea:  New York, New York – January 1978 to February 1987.  Mr. Maimone entered practice as an associate in this mainline Manhattan insurance defense firm. He was elevated to partner of the firm in January 1982, at the age of 29, and given substantial responsibility for clients, all phases of litigation, and staff supervision. He acquired a diverse background in defending wrongful death, medical malpractice, product liability and admiralty cases.

 

Elective Offices: In September 2006, Mr. Maimone became a Director of the Manhasset Student Aid Association, a local charity that provides tuition scholarships and loans.  He was elected President in December 2010 and served in that office for five years. He retired from the Association in 2021.

Mr. Maimone was elected to the Board of Education of the Manhasset Union Free School District in May 1999, and retired in June 2005 after serving two terms. He served as the President of the Board for the 2004-2005 academic year.  He later chaired the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Legislative Affairs at the request of the Board of Education.  The Committee studied and advocated solutions to wasteful mandates in public education.  Under his leadership, the Committee authored corrective legislation that was ultimately enacted by the New York State Legislature to eliminate wasteful busing mandates.

In June 1994, Mr. Maimone was elected to the Board of the Directors of the Roslyn Little League, where he held the office of Secretary for two terms 1997-1999, and retired from that Board in 2005. He was elected a permanent member of the Honorary Board in June, 2006.

Mr. Maimone  served as the Commissioner of the Manhasset Men’s Softball League, a position he has held from March 2008 to March of 2017.
